The 390 Duke remains to be a quick motorcycle and a good handling one, while the top speed has seen a marginal decrease. The new motorcycle also gets three ride modes — Rain, Road, and Track. The former dulls down the power delivery, while Road and Track offer all the power, while also changing the way the instrument reads out the information. It has matured in terms of how it looks and rides but retains the power-to-weight ratio it has always been known for. The new motorcycle is well put together, however, the quickshifter did refuse to change at times and this is a known issue even on the previous generation motorcycle.
The sleek and sharp tail section of the KTM Duke 390 rises upwards in an angular manner, thus making the KTM Duke 390 look agile and racy even on the standstill.
On offer in the KTM Duke 390 are a full TFT colored instrument console and all new switchgear with buttons for toggling the various functions of the instrument console and managing Bluetooth functions for music streaming and telephony — a segment-first feature. The full TFT unit here in the KTM Duke 390 offers multiple configurable modes and changes colors for different riding environments and speeds, which looks very cool while on the go. The motorcycle gets open-cartridge type 43mm upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks and a 320mm disc brake at the front and a fully adjustable mono-shock with the aluminium swingarm and a 230mm disc brake at the rear.
That includes this, the new 2024 KTM Duke 390. It gets a completely revised LC4c engine design, in an uprated frame, with the latest running gear, and an even sharper styling job. Capacity is up from 373cc to 398.

Sporting a new 5-inch TFT display, riders can enjoy seamless connectivity through Bluetooth. This feature-rich console allows riders to manage incoming calls, control music, and access turn-by-turn navigation via the new 4-way switchgear positioned on the left handlebar. This powerhouse is coupled with an upgraded gearbox, optimized cylinder head, and a larger air filter box.

Additionally, the new-gen 390 Duke gets cornering ABS as standard , new illuminated switchgear with 4-way menus switches, two riding modes Street and Rain , and a Track screen mode that changes the layout of the TFT console and also enables launch control a segment first. Other new additions include self-cancelling indicators, a cruise control, and a speed limiter function that would be really helpful on roads where there are speed restrictions. These additions should make the 2024 390 Duke a much better highway-friendly motorcycle than the outgoing one.

At the rear, you now get a refreshed tail section, complete with a new T-shaped LED and aluminum subframe. Like the design, the cockpit has a similar revamp. This not only has a new layout for better visibility, but we also expect smartphone connectivity , traction control, ride modes, and a bi-directional quickshifter, all as standard. This means the engine has different internals which hint at an increase in horsepower and engine capacity. As for underpinnings, the new model has an updated chassis, with a new subframe as mentioned above in place of the trellis unit. This is paired with an asymmetric swingarm, adjustable WP Apex upside-down forks, and a now-offset monoshock. You also get the RC 390-derived brakes and wheels, put in place to reduce unsprung mass.
With that said, the suspension setup on the KTM Duke 390 comprises of upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock at the rear along with an aluminium swingarm.
Courtesy of the high-end and much capable suspension setup and some fine-tuning by KTM, the Duke 390 makes for a corner hunter with ease. Be it city roads, highways, or some occasional track rides, the KTM Duke 390 is ready to take on anything you throw at it. The aggressive street fighter houses a 373cc single-cylinder four-stroke liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine that packs in a pretty powerful punch. The rear wheel receives the power via a six-speed gearbox, which features rather short gear ratios and might make the ride quality a bit too aggressive for city use. The same gearbox, however, shines bright when you engage the higher gears.

But there are other new features that are more useful. Traction control is a new addition here, even though it has been on the RC and Adventure for some time now. And it works well, intervening with a fairly soft hand when called upon, though still not quite as slick as the system on the new Apache RTR 310. Among the features carried over from before are cornering ABS; all the Bluetooth functions, including turn-by-turn navigation; controls for phone calls and music playback; and the bi-directional quickshifter. The latter works smoother and better than before, but it still does its best above 4,000rpm, feeling a little lurchy and jerky below that. There are major changes to the very substance of this motorcycle as well, all the way down to the heart of the matter: its engine. The big news is that displacement has been bumped up from 373cc to 399cc, which has brought with it an increase in power and torque — up by 2. That said, this is a high performance single-cylinder engine, and vibrations are the price you have to pay for that; KTM has done a good job of making the motor feel reasonably smooth for the most part. The bike steers quickly, but feels planted enough, and there is an overall feeling of great comfort, even when you start to attack corners hard.
