On these tracks lead singer Matt Shultz sets out to explore aging, wealth, fame, isolation, and the limits of power and achievements. There are also fun experiments like House of Glass, which sounds like a Cage cover of a forgotten Arctic Monkeys B-side, with Shultz attempting a German accent. With Beck, the band pull off a bleached neon reggae in Night Running. More interesting is that final track, Goodbye.
In January 2012, the band released the album Live from The Vic in Chicago, recorded during their 2011 tour, and also toured with the Big Day Out music festival. A lot of the songs here feel a bit bland with a few exceptions. The lyrics, however, are outstanding, they save this album for me. You can tell Matt is really going through some shit on this album. In 2019, they return in pretty good shape with their successor entitled "Social Cues".

Many have wondered how these occurrences would be reflected on the release. A sizable slice of isolation and disassociation seems to overlay the release. The lack of variety in the song structures could be problematic and have a negative impact on the release in the long run.
