The table is based on our new WUR 3. Overall, 411,789 data points collected from more than 2,673 institutions that submitted data. Among the 11 subject areas announced by The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024, Iranian universities were able to be among the top universities in the world in 10 subject areas. One of the most important missions of Islamic World Science and Technology Citation and Monitoring Institute ISC is to provide the possibility to identify and introduce the best scholars with high number of citations.

The Times Higher Education THE ranking, created in 2010, examined this year the results of more than 1,900 institutions in 104 countries and regions worldwide. The ranking uses a study assessing performances such as reputation, the quality and missions of higher education institutions, using 13 indicators divided in five categories: quality of education and research, innovation capacity, transfer of knowledge, influence of research, openness to the international.

Они по-прежнему объединены в пять категорий оценки, но их названия и вес каждой категории в общем балле вуза изменились. Теперь они определены так. Учитываются в порядке убывания значимости : репутация учреждения по качеству образования, которую определяют по опросу, соотношение числа аспирантов и сотрудников; соотношение числа преподавателей и студентов; соотношение числа выпускников аспирантуры и бакалавриата это новый показатель ; общий доход университета. Определяется по: репутации университета как исследовательского учреждения; доходу от исследовательской деятельности; исследовательской продуктивности количеству научных публикаций на одного сотрудника. Здесь используется один существовавший и ранее показатель — среднее число ссылок на научную публикацию сотрудника вуза имеется в виду то, насколько часто её упоминают другие исследователи в своих работах. Именно в этой категории произошли самые значимые изменения.
За счёт этого могли получить больше баллов вузы с яркими и влиятельными научными публикациями. Учитывается один старый показатель доход от бизнеса и один новый число полученных сотрудниками патентов.

While Ludwig Maximilian University Munich was still the second-highest ranked institution in Germany, it has fallen from 33rd to 38th since last year. Another consistently strong performer, Heidelberg maintained its position as the third-best German university in the THE ranking for 2024, but dropped down from 43rd to place 47th in the broader ranking. Rising stars when it came to the best places to study in Germany included the Technical University of Berlin , which moved from spot 156 to 136, and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, which came in spot 140 - an improvement from 2023 when it took 189th place.

Критериями отбора экспертов для опроса служит наукометрический анализ продуктивности и цитируемости, а также преподавательская и научная деятельность в высших учебных заведениях более 16 лет, наличие не менее 50 опубликованных научных работ и другие критерии. В ходе опросов эксперты выбирают из шести тысяч учреждений только лучшие, по их мнению, высшие учебные заведения, а также сильнейшие университеты для продолжения образования на магистерском и докторском уровнях. Данные глобального опроса составляют основу субрейтинга научной репутации университетов мира THE World Reputation Rankings , который выпускается в рамках проекта отдельным изданием.
