Share on WhatsApp Norwegian black metal band Mayhem , consisting of Necrobutcher on bass, Hellhammer on drums, Attila Csihar on vocals, and Teloch and Ghul on guitars, has just posted a statement on their social media accounts and stated that they got canceled the Cyprus concert. The reason for the cancellation of the show was stated as a problem in the travel documents of some band members.
Due to adverse media and police attention, Euronymous was forced around this time to close his scene focal point record shop Helvete. Much of the album was recorded during the first half of 1993 at the Grieg Hall in Bergen. To coincide with the release of the album, Euronymous and Vikernes had conspired to blow up Nidaros Cathedral, which appears on the album cover.
On 10 August 1993, Varg Vikernes murdered guitarist Euronymous. Upon their arrival a confrontation began, which ended when Vikernes fatally stabbed Euronymous. His body was found outside the apartment with twenty-three cut wounds — two to the head, five to the neck, and sixteen to the back. Vikernes claims that Euronymous had plotted to torture him to death and videotape the event — using a meeting about an unsigned contract as a pretext.
Regardless of the circumstances, Vikernes was arrested within days, and a few months later he was sentenced to 21 years in prison for both the murder and church arsons. With only Hellhammer remaining, Mayhem effectively ceased to exist. By late 1995 Hellhammer had decided to reform the band with the help of new guitarist Rune Eriksen aka Blasphemer and two previous Mayhem members — Maniac and Necrobutcher. One of these took place in Milan, Italy, guest starring Attila Csihar, and was recorded for the Mediolanum Capta Est live album of that year.
In this new phase, racist statements made by Hellhammer who spoke out against race mixing and foreigners in Norway and the use of Nazi imagery such as swastika flags in the rehearsal room, the Totenkopf emblem and band merchandise featuring the symbol of the military branch of Nasjonal Samling led to controversy and accusations of neo-Nazism. Strongly influenced by progressive and avant-garde metal, the album was concept-based, dealing with themes of war and post-apocalyptic destruction. Maniac largely abandoned the traditional black metal rasp for dramatic spoken-word monologue, with most of the songs sequencing seamlessly into one another.
Their most recent album release was Daemonic Rites Live on Sep 15, 2023. They have become well known for their exciting shows and entertaining performances which has built a robust following. This is largely fueled by almost 400,000 listeners and over 500,000 followers on Spotify, but they also reach an additional over 2,000,000 listeners on Spotify through playlists. Additionally, Mayhem has a robust following on social media with more than 400,000 followers on Instagram. They average nearly 1,000,000 videos on YouTube and their top video on TikTok has tens of millions of views on the social media platform.

Релиз получился в стиле классического блэка, очень похожим на ранние работы группы. Только это уже взрослый Mayhem с качественным и плотным саундом, все музыканты, особенно Ghul и Teloch, являющиеся авторами музыки, смогли раскрыть потенциал полностью.
Лирика же осталась неизменной - оккультизм, сатанизм и, конечно, демоны. Но Daemon запоминается не текстами, это все уже слышали и не по разу, а музыкальной составляющей - в первую очередь огромное количество риффов и барабаны, записанные с явной отсылкой к культовому дебютнику. Альбом довольно сложный и глубокий, его хочется переслушивать, ведь с каждым разом композиции раскрываются все больше.
А физическое издание получилось совсем загляденье - на него стоит потратиться только ради буклета. На стойке мерча можно было приобрести Daemon как в CD формате, так и виниловую пластинку. Вообще, норвежцы на мерч не поскупились и привезли с собой в Петербург несколько видов футболок и худи, не считая всякой мелочи типа патчей и браслетов.

A solid track, nonetheless. This song is extremely fast. This is one of the best songs on the album. The album keeps intensity with Pagan Fears which is upbeat, the opening riff is interesting, to say the least.
This song blast into hyper black metal mode with some solid tremelo picking and chilling vocals. Good stuff here, at times this song can even be called catchy. Good track, solid riffs. The next two tracks are taken to the extreme, this is what Mayhem is all about. At about this time in the concert there were pig heads and other assorted meat products scattered about the stage and floor, the people who remained at the concert would soon go onto form bands like Immortal, Darkthrone, and Emperor.
All of the main stage headliners will be promoting their new albums on this tour, as well as some of the second and third stage bands like 36 Crazyfists, Black Tide and Underoath. The festival also offers some other activities such as playing the newest video games, perusing vendors, attending autograph signing sessions. Live Nation is set to promote the festival nationally.
